About the founder:

Gypsea Market was founded by Philippe Hallani, who spent 25 years traveling the globe working for international fashion companies such as Tommy Hilfiger. When he met his Mexican wife, Belen, in Paris, Hallani decided to leave his globe-trotting career behind, and they relocated to Tulum.

He was impressed with the variety of organic items produced in Mexico and thought a contemporary grocery store dedicated to these products would be a good idea. When the shop opened in Tulum, it acquired success quickly and became well known in a short time.

The new Mérida market:

Hallani is also opening a new Gypsea Market in Mérida, Yucatán. The market will be located in Town Square Plaza and will feature a wide variety of organic, vegan, and gluten-free products. The market will also have an adjacent open-air restaurant that will serve up healthy and delicious meals.

The foundation:

Hallani has also formed a foundation that gives food to families in need. The foundation is called Fundación Color Esperanza Mexico and it has helped over 7,000 families in the first year of the pandemic. Three percent of all the market’s sales go to the foundation.

The future:

Gypsea Market is planning to open another location in Playa del Carmen in the near future. The company is also considering opening locations in other parts of Mexico and the world.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Gypsea Market!
